Many people I meet have reconsidered many aspects of their lives over these last 18 months. For some, I have seen dramatic change as a result, whilst for others there remains a restlessness - desire to do things differently but a lack of courage to set SMUUT goals and go after them.
Effectively to decide (what you really want) to commit (that you do really want the change required) and then to go (to take action to move in the direction of what you want).
Getting started is easy as you are full of energy, passion and enthusiasm. As you get towards the summit, finishing line, desired future state or however else you want to phrase it, things also get easier. Energy and a real buzz returns.
It is the bit in the middle that is the challenge. Professor Damian Hughes called this the 'messy middle' in the FutureYou interviews we did. You have lost sight of the start line but have no sight of the finish line. Energy and motivation are waning and you need the discipline of winning habits to frameworks to keep going. It is when your resilience and you ability to persist that matter most.
To help everyone on this journey, particularly those still contemplating I share 10 (sets of) questions that I recently put together for a new piece of client work. If nothing else, these questions are powerful for your Mozart time. Either tackle them in one sitting or take a couple a day. Spending time really working through them will help you start by going in the right direction and then get through the messy middle (along with many of the other GiFT631 frameworks and strategies).
Here you go:
How clear is your life vision? Have you written it down? How often do you talk about it? Visualise it? Think about it?
How clear are your goals for the next 12 months? Does achieving them move you in the direction of this life vision? Have you written them down?
How do you visually represent your vision and goals?
How strong is your belief system? How could it be stronger?
How do you respond to a setback? How do you bounce back quickly to continue moving in the direction of your vision and goals?
What is holding you back? What is stopping you? (Focus on the world as it is and not the way it was or the way you want it to be).
What are your business superpowers? What are you really good and really passionate about?
What do you need to learn/improve to help you keep moving in the direction of your goals?
What would you love to achieve over the next 90 days? How are you going to do it? What do you need to start and what do you need to stop? What do you need to do more of?
How and when will you allocate time to ensure you prioritise what really matters to you?
