One of my favourite parts of the day is when Leona and I get up and go for some daily movement with Boston our cavoodle. This morning movement forms the first part of my 4M routine which I use to set up my day for success.
Frequently when we walk and talk Leona will say something that sparks an idea, makes me consider what I am doing or helps me clarify a decision I have been pondering.
Yesterday, we were talking about a new talent programme I am starting next week for a major client. Leona mentioned her belief that the biggest barrier to creating personal growth and change is someone’s mindset. Help them shift their mindset and you will help them shift their beliefs and their aspirations and goals. Funnily enough, I saw part of a documentary on Shawn Mendes last night. Shawn was showing his journals to the camera from when we was starting out as a singer/songwriter. It fitted perfectly with this week’s blog - on 4/5 pages he had just rewritten line after line 2/3 affirmations about what he was going to achieve. He repeated the same affirmation on line after line. He was bombarding his subsconscious mind to help strengthen his mindset and reshape his belief system. A perfect fit.
As such, I thought I would share a segment from my 2nd book, which I will complete before the end of 2024 (putting the goal out to the universe!!). Next week, I will add another section of the book which fits this topic. Here goes:
‘I then began journalling. At first this included writing out a series of daily affirmations. The first affirmations list I wrote when I made the decision to leave the corporate world is shared below. I often reread this list as it powers up my inner champion and it bombards my subconscious mind with positivity and belief. It gives me a burst of energy and a real sense of confidence, enabling me to believe that ‘anything is possible’ and ‘I can do this!’ As I work through the list, I want to take immediate decisive action and stretch further from my comfort zone as I am less concerned about the judgement of others. Here’s the list in full:

To quote George Bernard Shaw: ‘Life is a brief candle or a splendid torch.’
Burn as brightly as possible and pass it on the next generations.
I literally wrote this in a couple of minutes and yet it has had an ongoing impact as I describe above. That is the power of such a list. Now I believe you should do the following:
Stop reading for a minute.
Reread my affirmation list.
Reflect on how it makes you feel?
Capture those feelings in your journal!
Create your own list now - even if you did the exercise when you read The Rocking Chair Test. ✍️
Avoid overthinking. This list is for you and you only.
Go with whatever comes to your mind.
Keep every sentence in the present tense (e.g. I am or I am loving………)
Feel free to repeat sentences that really inspire you.
You can add to, amend or remove from this list as often as you want to.
Keep it with you and refer to it frequently, ideally daily.
Next week I will share an extract from my ‘Be amazing 💪 list.’ These techniques are quick, simple and only work when used consistently.
Equally, if you have insights, thoughts and ideas to share please add a comment - let’s ensure we do all we can to help other master our mindset and soar to even greater heights. It’s #whatwinnersdo 🦅
