Life is moving at an incredible pace and I really like it. I believe I perform better when there is lots happening, I need to work at speed and under the pressure of deadlines. I can live with balancing a few key priorities as long as I maintain my daily winning habits and routines (see my 4M morning routines and basically all the content within The Rocking Chair Test).
I am finding myself delivering more conference and keynote presentations, being asked to do more 1:1 coaching, setting up my first two book launches on different sides of the world, writing my second and preparing content for my third book………..whilst today having to get in the queue to buy Coldplay tickets for a concert a 5 hour plane ride away in Perth, Western Australia.
Whilst everything else is going really well, getting Coldplay tickets did not!! I am grateful to have seen them twice but my youngest two daughters have not been as fortunate and Dad was going to earn major brownie points for this one. 👎

I love working at pace as I believe speed is a source of competitive advantage. One of my long standing personal mantras is:
‘Do today what others only PLAN to do tomorrow.’
This is about throwing myself into the arena by taking action, even though it may not be perfect. A good idea well executed is better than a brilliant idea………..that stays as an idea!
Whilst researching for my third book (working title #dare2soar 📚🦅📚), which is going to focus on one of my superpowers: sales/service leadership, I found this from 1999. I believe it would make a great charter for 2023. It sums me up then and I believe it sums me up now. A few things have changed but lots have not.
Perhaps this level of clarity and self-expectation is why I love the pace, the hustle and the pressure of business. Perhaps it is why I am willing to set and chase big SMUUT goals. What do you think? What’s on your personal charter? What should be on it?
🔥Expect to Win Charter - 1/4/99:
Do it, do it well with commitment and confidence.
Excellence as a way of life.
Make sure your behaviour is worth copying and your attitude is worth catching.
Listen - watch - write it down - learn (from the best).
Love winning.
Cut fat, not muscle.
Realise potential to maximise performance.
Relentlessly communicate your vision.
Win together.
Beware death by 1,000 initiatives.
Catch people doing something right.
If it’s going well I like to know, if it’s going badly I have to know.
Exceed expectations.
Everything = opportunity.
Always have goals.
Do today what others only plan to do tomorrow.
When the result of a meeting is to schedule another meeting you are in trouble.
If you see a bandwagon, it’s too late.
Decide to be outstanding.
Ego is the enemy of achievement - check it in at the door!
Be an inverse paranoid - everyone is out to HELP me.
🔥🦅🔥 ACTION: take some Mozart time and create your own success charter to energise, focus your mind and help you raise your standards/expectations and persist in the challenging moments. I believe if you lead a team, it’s essential. Share it, publicise it and keep sharing it. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Set a pace, an urgency, an expectation and a tone! It's #whatwinnersdo
PS If anyone has any spare Coldplay tickets please let me know 😉🦅😉
