How do you balance time between working 'on' & 'in' life and business?
When do create time to think big pricture and long term?
Equally, time to focus on the here and now - your immediate priorities and short-term goals?
Are you completely present when you are operating either ‘on’ or ‘in’ or
Are you suffering the modern curses of distraction and interruption?
Getting this balance between '100 and 6 foot' thinking right is different for all of us depending on what we do and our current situation. However giving it conscious thought and then adding set times to our high performance diaries is a must if we want to soar to new heights in 2024.
100 foot thinking is taking time to focus on big goals and the 'big picture'. Its time to consider your purpose, your passions, superpowers & the business/life strategies you want to put in place to enable you to live to your potential. It is time to ask yourself questions about how you can move from where you are to where you want to be - perfect time to think about #futureyou.
Rather than a once a quarter ‘retreat’ or an annual goal setting exercise, 100 foot time is short, sharp & regular. For me, it is Mozart time as part of my 4M morning routine.
6 foot time is tactical & immediate, focused on the now. It ensures you execute & get things done . It is also about being present in the moment, for example when you are conducting a 1:1 or spending time with family members. I once believed that 'the greatest gift you can give your people is your time'. Now I say it is being 100% present.

Both 6 & 100 foot time have their place. What matters most is how you create a balance between the two. This enables you to think big, strategically & holistically whilst acting ‘small’, tactically and in the moment. Too much of one & you are always in the clouds & too much of the other & you are in the weeds!
