When people set off in pursuit of a (SMUUT) goal, there is a high level of motivation. There is energy, excitement and passion.
This is replicated when people get close to the achievement of the goal.
I call this B.O.M. and T.O.M motivation: bottom and top of mountain motivation.
However, what do you need to keep going when you have lost sight of the start line and can’t yet see the finish line? You have moved from the bottom of the mountain but you are no where near the top?
This is frequently called the messy middle.
From my own experience and from my work with others, this is where the daily routines become so important. They give you the structure and the discipline to keep working to keep going and to avoid the temptation to give you and go back to your current state/comfort zone. For me, they have taken me from a ‘great starter’ to a ‘strong finisher’, be it writing a book, building a new programme, my health and wellbeing to scaling GiFT631 and lots more.
The Rocking Chair Test (RCT) details many of these daily winning habits and routines from the 4M morning routine, to the 1+3+6 process, Friday 13 (or 15 if you prefer) weekly self-reflection to the S.A.D. process (set up - action - debrief).
The accompanying landing page provides action sheets and more to help with this too:

👉For those who are in the messy middle or have experienced it, what helped you?
👉 What got you through (or not)?
👉What do you wish you had, that you didn’t?
👉Which of the GiFTs in the RCT would you like to see expanded to help you going forward?
My mission is to keep you climbing when resilience is tested and you don’t feel like it!
Believe me, when you see the view from the top, or even near the top, it is so worth it!
