Less busy, more brilliant is becoming an obsession to help people get some control over their diary and get off the busyness hamster wheel. I am seeing more tiredness and overwhelm than before as work piles up, meetings spiral out of control (particularly endless virtual ones!) & in-boxes/chats are blowing out.
So, what can we do to fix this? We must make a concentrated effort to STOP and rid ourselves of low value or even valueless meetings and activities.
How?
Here’s something I used in the early 2000s. Every member of my business had a little pad, each page had a picture of a cute baby rhino 🦏 (a different story for a different blog), a quote (a tiny blast of inspiration) and space for the person to note down anything they felt was draining their time. Each week we collected them and worked through them as a leadership team. Simple, practical and effective, although it took some time (benefits outwieghed time. Not just time saved, but we evidenced we wanted to listen, learn and help!)
I recently created a slightly more advanced but just as simple action sheet for a client who was consumed with work. I have attached it. As with all my work, this is a starter……….feel free to learn, copy and add your own 10-20% to make it yours.
I want to keep the reading time short so I am not overly adding to your workload. However, if you want to make progress on the busyness and find more capacity to be less busy and more brilliant, you need to STOP, READ, REFLECT & TAKE ACTION.
Change nothing, nothing changes! 🦅
