The start to 2024 has been fabulous.
My 23 year old son Tom came over from England, arriving on the 27th December and leaving on the 12th January. Tom is an Ironman 70.3 with a love of running, swimming and cycling. His 2024 calender is full with races from marathons to cross country runs to triathlons and an ironman thrown in.
Building his year around what he loves and what matters most (to him). Have you?
Apart from the obvious joy of spending lots of high quality time together, the huge benefit was Tom wanted to exercise daily (and not just a gentle 5kms around the local park). This meant I had to push myself on a daily basis - to run further and a little quicker. It also meant we ate well, hydrated properly, drank very little alcohol and went to bed early so we could get up early and start our run well before 6am. It gets light and HOT early here.
I would describe myself as a self-starter with a high level of motivation who sets and goes after ambitious goals. However, I found Tom’s presence and focus provided a level of stretch and clear accountability that I needed. I feel so much better because of it.
The obvious challenges to you:
What stretch have you applied to all you want to achieve in 2024 and beyond?
What accountability system and structure have you put in place?
At the same time, my wife Leona and eldest daughter Emma qualified for an all expenses paid trip to Maui, Hawaii through their network marketing business. All the National Vice Presidents are invited each year (and can take along a +1) and it is a brilliant experience. This year Leona got asked to join the global leadership council which is super cool and something I am immensely proud. She is part of my winning circle - Emma refers to it as a circle of inspration:
Who in your life elevates your standards, inspires you, supports you and helps you you soar in the direction of your true potential?
Before leaving for Maui, a great conversation evolved between Emma, Tom, myself and Brock (Emma’s partner). We all decided to undertake our own version of 75Hard: 75 days of intense focus to improve all aspects of our life. We have set up an accountability group on What’s App to create a level of focus, stretch and accountability.
We each commit to daily activities. I know my ‘children’ will crush it so I am determinded to do the same. We are doing it in our unique way. Here are my daily activities:
Do a minimum 12,000 steps
Run a minimum of 5kms
Meditate
Write 200 words (book 2!).
Read a minimum of 10 pages
Avoid alcohol, dairy and bread
Each night write out my 3 wins of the day
Each morning complete the GiFT631 daily action planner (happy to share)
I have created a spreadsheet and I will ✅ or ❌ each activity each day.
I added 3 weekly tasks:
Complete the GiFT631 Friday 15 to review the week
Listen to one podcast per week
Write one substack article
75Hard links to 2 of my 2024 obsessions: Firstly #18@58. My work is my passion. I give 100%. I need energy to deliver to the best of my ability. I want to be as fit at 58 as I was at 18. Physical fitness is my bedrock.
Secondly I want to #soarin24. It is time to 10x everything I do. This again needs energy and a focus on the right things. My own disciplines like F15, the 4M morning routine & the 1+3+6 process are all integrated into the above.
👉I leave for Singapore on Wednesday and then head to the UK the following Monday. My goal is to use this time to start developing the habits and then a full start to 75Hard from the 5th February.
Anyone up for the challenge?
Do you #dare2soar?
Again, do you have the stretch and accountability in place to make this a sensational year?
