Fujisawa of Honda once said 'US & Japanese management is 95% alike but differs in all important aspects.' The more I study people the more I see the context behind the quote. It is the law of the slight edge. It is little things done consistently that make a big difference. Here are a series of actions and behaviours that I believe contribute to the success of many people I work with and others I observe. I also apply them to my own life. Each is important in its own right, added together they are ever more influential.
1.Self-development matters. It builds confidence, self-belief & a positive, growth, opportunity focused mindset. Reading, listening to podcasts, video content as well as formal learning pays huge dividends over time . 'Always learning' is one of my mantras. Build learning into your everday routine - for example listening to a podcast on the way to work or watching #giftbites whilst on the treadmill. 'Personal growth is not automatic.'
2. Attitude matters. Ability gets you into the game, attitude determines whether you win the game. The 4M routine is designed to set up my day up for success and get me into my ideal performance state. An attitude of gratitude and a generosity of spirit makes a daily difference to all involved. Creating a winning circle and/or a circle of inspiration lifts you and helps ever improve your attitude.
3. Action matters. Avoid overthinking & seeking perfection. Instead, get into the arena of action as quickly as you can. The GiFT631 'Decide - Commit - GO!' makes a big difference. Be #allin and go with pace and urgency - a real #speedstuns mentality which develops into a source of competitive advantage.

4. Goals focused actions matter most! Commit time each day to focus your action on achieving your goals (or improving our mindset). Journal daily and rewrite what you want to achieve - the more times you write out your goals, see and read them the more locked in they become. The GiFT631 1+3+6 goal achieving process is designed to keep you making progress on this journey:
5. Self-talk matters. Affirmations, manifestations, ‘I can’ statements, ‘I truly believe I am a great…’ sentences - there are many different ways to improve how we speak to ourselves to feed our subconscious mind and improve our confidence.
👉Read the mindset section of The Rocking Chair Test to work through the HOW of self-talk.
By way of example, everyday I say to myself at least once: 'I am loving being the CEO of my life and the time/financial freedom this brings.'
6. Visualisation AND vision boards matter. Repeatedly seeing what we want with is powerful . Create an environment where you see physical and mental images of your goals and your desired future state. The more you see them, physically and in your mind, the more focused you become. They act like triggers to energise you to take action to move you forward. Have clarity of vision and goal to make sure your visualisation focuses your attention.
7. Relationships matter - Relationships are the foundation of everything. Make a conscious effort to extend your network and build your relationships. Look for aspirational people who will lift you to the next level and build a winning circle. My eldest daughter Emma has created a ‘circle of inspiration’ - 5 people who inspire her to become the best version of herself. What a brilliant extension to the concept.
8. Stillness matters. Slow down to speed up and create some stillness so you can hear your self think. I once heard that to develop an idea, the first thing you need to do is quieten the mind. It may seem a contradiction to live with speed, pace, urgency whilst also recommending time to pause, think and reflect. In essence this 'Mozart' time enables you to find clarity and make clear, progressive decisions. Once made, the implementation of the decision requires pace, urgency and focus.
