I am just back in Australia after 3 wonderful weeks in the UK. I worked hard with amazing clients, spending my time between London and Birmingham, the city of my birth. I am super grateful to all those who invested in what I do - whether it be long-standing clients or those who invested in me for the first time.
I spent the 2nd weekend in Manchester. My son Tom lives in England. He has become a superb athlete moving from running to triathlons and ironman. Tom told me he wanted us to compete in an event together……..so we did. Amazing memories and a fabulous experience we will both remember for ever.
We both set new personal bests: Tom blasting around in 1:27:59 and me at 1:57:01. However the mindset was good, the energy strong and the desire to do it again was ignited.
On the day after the race, before I returned to London, I met my one of my first ever bosses - a guy called Mike Jeacock. I hadn’t seen Jeacky for over 20 years and was as full of excitement as I was on the start line of the 1/2 marathon.
This is the Linkedin post I wrote following the tea/coffee:
As I prepare to deliver the first session in a 4 part leadership programme tomorrow, I was reflecting on this post. I am going to ask the group about the best leaders they know and/or have worked for and to ask them what it was about the leader that stood out.
This Linkedin post says it all to me - it is about the culture/environment, genuinely caring for your people and being the wind beneath your wings to enable you to soar to new heights.
It is #whatwinnersdo.
